Balti Masala

Serves 2–3

As everyone knows, the famous Balti didn’t originate in India, it was created in ‘The Balti Triangle’ in Birmingham/The Black Country by Indian restaurateurs.

Ingredients included…

Ginger, garlic, chillies, Indian bay leaf, cassia, dried methi and freshly ground spices including mustard seed (allergens in bold)

Our kits are produced in a factory that handles mustard seeds and tree nuts.

You’ll also need…

1 onion, 200ml passata OR half a can of tomatoes, 1 tbsp tomato puree, 400-500g chicken (or for a veggie suggestion 1-2 cans of chickpeas and 2 waxy potatoes), stir fried vegetables (peppers, onions, mushrooms) to add at the end of cooking (optional)

Things you may already have…

1-2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp salt and sugar (optional) and 1-2 tbsp butter (also optional)
